Anjalee Vichhi – Digital Marketing Apprentice
Learn more about Anjalee's experience as an apprentice at Amazon.
Prior to joining the apprenticeship programme, I had completed my A Levels and was working in retail. Being someone who really enjoys creative work, I decided to start my own graphics Instagram page in my spare time. I gradually turned this into a small graphic design business where I created YouTube graphics for different influencers and start-up businesses. At the same time, I also managed a YouTube channel! As my subscriber base grew, I started to work with brands on promotional campaigns. These pastimes built my interest in digital marketing and this is why I applied for the digital marketing apprenticeship at Amazon!
I sit within the EU Brand team working on UK social to raise awareness for Amazon Music. If there’s one thing for sure, no day is ever the same in my role, which I find thrilling! One day, I could be brainstorming ideas and briefing in an exciting new team project, and the next day I could be promoting content through paid media. It’s ever-changing!
Going down the apprenticeship route was an easy choice for me. The opportunity to gain a qualification and work experience from professionals in the industry was something that I couldn’t pass up. I chose an apprenticeship over university because I wanted to learn transferable skills that could be used across the digital marketing department. This apprenticeship has given me more freedom to tailor my own career path around my interests.
Amazon Music is very fast-paced so you can learn so much in a short amount of time. During my working hours, I have learnt how my team operates and how we execute a campaign from start to finish on social media. Whereas during my off-the-job learning hours, I learn the key digital marketing concepts and how to apply this knowledge effectively in my role. The combination of learning both practically and theoretically has developed my digital marketing skills all round.
I plan to use the skills and knowledge I gain from this apprenticeship to secure me a permanent role in the Amazon Music team. My career goal is to become a Social Media Manager and to lead large and impactful campaigns. I believe my apprenticeship will lay the foundations for me to achieve this goal and will kick start my career in digital marketing.
I would recommend the apprenticeship to future applicants because not only will you gain relevant hands on work experience and a recognised qualification, but you are given guidance and support throughout the programme. Amazonians are incredibly helpful and friendly and you can easily build a great network for yourself which can set you up for a bright future ahead. Your apprenticeship provider will also ensure you are on track for success and will help you reach your potential in the workplace.
