It teaches you how to identify and eliminate waste, create flow and improve quality leading to greater efficiency and increased profitability. The purpose is to equip learners with a foundation level of knowledge and skill that will enable them to successfully contribute to continuous improvement and add value to our business.
The BIT scheme develops learners' competencies in how business processes are planned and executed as efficiently as possible, identifying and minimising waste while delivering high-quality service.
Over the duration of the course, you'll be working as a warehouse operative as part of the operations teams. Focused on making sure our customers receive an extremely positive experience through ensuring orders are picked, packed and shipped on time. You'll be trained initially on a specific core process path, for example, receive, stow, pick or pack. Throughout the program, you may have the opportunity to be trained on different process paths, depending upon operational requirements. Additionally, you will develop your competence in crucial areas such as safety, workplace organisation, communication and project planning.
Apprentices will work towards the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative apprenticeship, alongside a Level 2 certificate in Business Improvement Techniques.
Apprentices will gain knowledge and experience in the following key subjects:
- Lean manufacturing
- Health and safety
- Workplace organisation
- Visual management
- Continuous improvement
- Effective team working
- Project planning

I believe that taking the decision to apply for this programme changed my life. I was looking to improve my English and also my confidence, as a lot of my colleagues and even my manager were telling me that I was doing great in my role but I needed this little bit of extra confidence to believe in myself.
