Join us as a Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Apprentice and learn how to build a culture where safety is at the heart of everything we do.
At Amazon, safety isn’t just a priority - it’s our foundation. You’ll gain the skills and confidence to identify risks, improve processes, and help ensure that every employee goes home safe every day. You’ll also study toward a nationally recognised qualification while learning directly from experienced WHS professionals.
Eligibility requirements
To be considered for this apprenticeship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a UK national, or a non-UK national with the right to work in the UK, or an EU national with settled status.
- Have lived in the UK, an EEA country, or a British Overseas Territory for at least 3 years before the programme start date (September 2026).
- Hold a visa for the full duration of the programme.
- Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme.
- Not be registered on another UK government-funded course ending August 2026 or later.
- Be 18 years or older before entering an Amazon building (September 2026).
- Hold at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including Maths and English (or equivalent).
- If qualifications were obtained outside the UK, provide a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC.
- You must not already hold a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship.
What you’ll do
As a WHS Apprentice, you’ll play an active role in shaping safe, healthy, and efficient workplaces across Amazon. You’ll spend time learning about risk management, wellbeing, and continuous improvement while supporting real safety projects.
You’ll gain experience in:
- Conducting risk assessments and safety audits
- Using data to identify trends and prevent incidents
- Supporting emergency response and crisis planning
- Engaging employees in safety campaigns and initiatives
- Collaborating with teams to implement health and safety improvements
You’ll balance on-the-job learning with dedicated study time for your Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Technician apprenticeship, working toward TechIOSH accreditation.

Career progression
Once you complete your apprenticeship, you’ll be ready to take on safety-focused roles such as Safety Technician or WHS Coordinator, with a clear pathway to grow your career and work towards management opportunities in the future.
