Do you have a passion for the creative industries? Are you interested in the behind the scenes productions and how they captivate their audience?

In this role, you'll play an active role in the technical setup and operation of a variety of established creative venues, such as broadcast and film studios. You'll provide technical solutions for live performance and event projects of all sizes, ranging from conferences and product launches to showcases.

Required Skills & Qualifications

For the apprenticeship programme we prioritise applicants eligible to government funding for their apprenticeship and for this you need to:

  • Be 18 years or over before the start date
  • Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the programme).
  • Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
  • Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme
  • Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending June 2025 or later
  • Have at least 5 GCSEs C grade (grade 4) or above including Maths and English

PLEASE NOTE: This position is a 18 month fixed-term contract.

You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship

What are the core components of this apprenticeship?

During your apprenticeship, you will acquire valuable skills and knowledge, including:

Technical Setup & Operation: Preparing, building, setting up, and operating functioning systems for creative productions, including sound, lighting, power, or video.
Technical Information Delivery: Reading, interpreting, and providing appropriate technical information to colleagues and clients.
Technical System Assembly & Maintenance: Using a variety of tools to assemble, install, and maintain technical and production systems.
Communication & Collaboration: Interacting with a wide range of partners and collaborators, including camera operators, sound technicians, production teams, performers, and producers.
Problem-Solving: Being proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving processes.
Quality Assurance: Ensuring your work is of high quality, with a keen eye for visual and audio design.

What will I learn as I progress through my course?

  • Creative Production Workflows: Understanding and applying end-to-end production processes for live events, broadcasts, and film/TV projects.
  • Technical Operations Management: Coordinating the setup, testing, and operation of complex technical systems and equipment.
  • Project Management: Planning, organizing, and executing creative production projects of varying scales and complexities.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnosing and resolving technical issues, as well as performing preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Health & Safety: Ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workplace.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Developing effective communication and collaboration skills to work with performers, directors, producers, and other creative professionals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing ways to enhance production processes and technical solutions.
  • Industry Trends & Innovation: Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, techniques, and best practices in the creative industries.

(Assessment centres for this role are expected to take place between Feb - May 2025)
Offer
If successful we will extend you an offer to join our programmes and our recruitment teams will send you a contract of employment
Onboarding process
Our recruitment teams will complete the necessary background checks, register you with the programme training provider and obtain any personal information needed to begin your employment
Start
You'll then be ready to join us on your Apprenticeship programme
