Are you interested in a hands-on role maintaining and troubleshooting the critical electrical and mechanical equipment that powers our data centres?

In this role, you will support our data centre operations by helping to test and maintain electrical power systems and equipment. Working alongside experienced DCEO technicians and engineers, you'll learn how power systems work, from generation to distribution, and develop the skills to identify and fix problems when they occur.

Required skills and qualifications

For the apprenticeship programme we prioritise applicants eligible to government funding for their apprenticeship and for this you need to:

  • Be 18 years or over before the start date
  • Have the right to live and work in the country where the role is located (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in the country where the role is located, for the entire duration of the programme).
  • Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
  • Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme
  • Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending June 2025 or later
  • Have 5 GCSEs Grade C/ 4 or above including Maths and English.
  • Have an A Level in STEM subject, or BTEC Diploma in STEM subject, or Level 3 IT apprenticeship

PLEASE NOTE: This position is a 24 month fixed-term contract.

You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship

What are the core components of this apprenticeship?

As a DCEO Apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience and training in areas such as:

Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining and testing electrical equipment like transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving equipment issues using a variety of test instruments.
Technical Interpretation: Reading and interpreting technical diagrams and documentation.
Safety Protocols: Adhering to strict safety protocols and procedures in a data centre environment.
Communication: Effectively communicating with colleagues and stakeholders about technical matters.
Industry Standards: Applying important industry safety and operational standards.
Problem-Solving: Developing a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.

  • You'll learn to identify opportunities for enhancing data centre operations and energy efficiency as part of continuous improvement efforts

Video Interview

Virtual / Onsite Assessment Centre
Assessment centres include: a group exercise, presentation and individual interviews

(Assessment centres for this role are expected to take place between Feb - May 2025)
Offer
If successful we will extend you an offer to join our programmes and our recruitment teams will send you a contract of employment
Onboarding process
Our recruitment teams will complete the necessary background checks, register you with the programme training provider and obtain any personal information needed to begin your employment
Start
You'll then be ready to join us on your Apprenticeship programme
