This week I went to London and got the chance to visit Amazon’s UK head office, a huge building with so much going on in every corner. After navigating my way through the London Underground system, I made sure to check in at the office reception to get my visitor badge before beginning my tour.
There are 15 floors containing space for thousands of Amazonians to work hard, have fun, and make history. There’s lots of meeting rooms, phone rooms, and communal spaces to suit every team’s need and working style, as well as many areas for wind down at the end of the day, including a mini golf course!
I visited the café on the 10th floor for some free fruit, and then checked out the lovely balcony area where employees can have lunch, socialise, or simply check out the view. I love to get some outdoor time during the working day, and I don't even mind the slightly chilly November temperatures when a view of the London skyline is involved!
I spotted some apprentices working in LHR16 too, including a couple of corporate apprentices on Science, Technology, and Engineering (STEM) programmes. They made me realise I should probably get some work done too, so I found a cosy corner on the second floor to dial into some virtual meetings with my European colleagues.
My meetings kept me busy until the Amazon UK and Ireland Live broadcast, which was hosted by Rylan Clark (a well-known English TV and radio presenter), celebrating 25 years of Amazon in the UK. The broadcast covered how Amazonians have been thinking big since 1998 to serve customers in the UK and Ireland, and showed how Amazon celebrated some of the moments they’re most proud of, as well as how they’re looking forward to the future.
