In this role, you'll learn to design, install, and support the communication networks that organisations depend on every day. Working alongside experienced network engineers, you'll develop expertise in both hardware and software aspects of networking, from cloud technologies to physical infrastructure.

Required skills and qualifications

For the apprenticeship programme we prioritise applicants eligible to government funding for their apprenticeship and for this you need to:

  • Be 18 years or over before the start date
  • Have the right to live and work in the country where the role is located (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in the country where the role is located, for the entire duration of the programme).
  • Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
  • Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme
  • Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending July 2025 or later
  • Have 5 GCSEs Grade C/ 4 or above including Maths and English.
  • Have an A Level in STEM subject, or BTEC Diploma in STEM subject, or Level 3 IT apprenticeship

PLEASE NOTE: This position is a 24 month fixed-term contract.

You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship

What are the core components of this apprenticeship?

As a Network Engineer Apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience and training in areas such as:

Network Components: Installing and configuring network components and devices to ensure secure and efficient operation.
Performance Monitoring: Monitoring and analysing network performance to maintain optimal service levels.
Technical Troubleshooting: Solving complex technical issues to minimize system downtime.
Cloud Services: Supporting various network systems, including cloud-based infrastructure.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of network configurations and changes.
Team Collaboration: Working with colleagues to deliver reliable network solutions.
Security Implementation: Assisting with network upgrades and implementing robust security measures.
Technical Support: Providing expert assistance to users across the organization.

Virtual / Onsite Assessment Centre
Assessment centres include: a group exercise, presentation and individual interviews

(Assessment centres for this role are expected to take place between Feb - May 2025)
Offer
If successful we will extend you an offer to join our programmes and our recruitment teams will send you a contract of employment
Onboarding process
Our recruitment teams will complete the necessary background checks, register you with the programme training provider and obtain any personal information needed to begin your employment
Start
You'll then be ready to join us on your Apprenticeship programme
