Join us as a Data Centre Operations Apprentice and play a key role in supporting the systems, servers, and equipment that power Amazon Web Services (AWS). You’ll help keep our data centres reliable and resilient while learning from experienced data centre technicians.
You’ll develop strong technical skills, learn how to troubleshoot issues in a high-availability environment, and support the infrastructure that powers millions of customers worldwide.
About the role
As a Data Centre Operations Apprentice, you’ll work inside one of Amazon’s UK data centres, helping to maintain the technology that keeps cloud services running.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in:
- Working at the forefront of AI infrastructure, supporting the systems that power Amazon’s most advanced technologies
- Supporting the diagnosis and resolution of technical issues across servers, networks, and power systems
- Responding to and prioritising trouble tickets to keep data centre operations running smoothly
- Assist with installing and setting up server racks, ensuring all systems meet company requirements
- Learning to replace hardware components safely and accurately under guidance from experienced technicians
- Monitoring system performance and contributing to preventative maintenance activities
- Gaining exposure to cyber security principles and system protection best practices
- Collaborating with facilities teams during power and cooling maintenance events
- Participate in small to mid-scale projects that enhance system reliability and efficiency
This is an active, practical role where every day brings something different. You’ll learn how data centres operate at scale and how our teams keep services running safely and efficiently.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:
- Be 18 years or older before the start date (September 2026)
- Have the right to live and work in England for the duration of the programme
- Have lived in the UK or EEA for the last 3 years
- Not be enrolled on another government-funded course ending August 2026 or later
- Hold at least 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 (C) or above in any subject
- Hold GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 3 (D) or above
- Not already hold a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level
Please note: you may occasionally need to travel to a training centre as part of your off-the-job learning.

Career Progression
After completing your apprenticeship, you’ll be qualified for a role as a Data Centre Technician.
With experience, you can grow into specialist or leadership roles across AWS infrastructure services, contributing to the reliability and innovation of Amazon’s global cloud network.
