About the Role
As a DevOps Engineer Apprentice, you’ll join one of Amazon’s tech teams supporting automation, system reliability, and efficient software delivery. DevOps apprentices work across a variety of Amazon business areas - from AWS and consumer engineering to internal corporate systems - supporting tools and technologies that help teams deploy faster and operate more efficiently.
You’ll learn how code becomes production-ready software, develop skills in automation and cloud technologies, and work alongside experienced engineers to solve real operational challenges. Every day offers the chance to simplify processes, enhance performance, and build foundations for modern, scalable systems.
What You’ll Do
As a DevOps Apprentice, you’ll contribute to projects and workflows that keep Amazon’s systems efficient, resilient, and secure. You’ll learn how to automate tasks, improve performance, and support software delivery pipelines used by teams across the business.
During Your Apprenticeship, You’ll Learn How To:
- Support the design and maintenance of cloud infrastructure
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to support smooth software releases
- Write scripts in languages such as Python or Bash to automate routine tasks
- Monitor systems to detect issues early and improve performance
- Apply security best practice across infrastructure and deployments
- Work with developers, product teams, and IT specialists to solve technical challenges
- Use containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Troubleshoot incidents and contribute to continuous improvement
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:
- Be 18 years or over before the start date
- Have the right to live and work in England for the entire duration of the programme
- Have lived in the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
- Be a resident of the UK for the full duration of the apprenticeship
- Not be registered on another government-funded course ending August 2025 or later
- Have 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English
- Have one of the following Level 3 qualifications:
- A Level in a STEM subject
- BTEC Diploma in a STEM subject
- Level 3 IT apprenticeship
- Not already hold a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship

Many apprentices choose to continue developing their skills through higher-level qualifications or specialist technical certifications.
