Are you ready to play a key role in keeping Amazon moving? Join our Transportation Associate Programme (TAP) and start your journey to becoming a qualified Class 1 HGV Driver.
This 14-month apprenticeship combines hands-on experience with expert training to help you gain your HGV licence (Category C+E) and the skills needed to thrive in one of Europe’s most innovative logistics networks. You’ll learn from experienced drivers and logistics professionals, developing the confidence and technical expertise to deliver safely, efficiently, and with great customer focus.
You’ll be home at the end of every shift - no long-haul routes, just real driving experience and a fast-track route to a long-term career in transport and logistics.
About the programme
As a Transportation Apprentice, you’ll join a network that spans hundreds of fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and delivery stations across the UK.
You’ll receive comprehensive training to become a professional HGV driver, learning to:
- Safely operate heavy goods vehicles across multiple Amazon site types
- Carry out trailer moves within yards and on public roads
- Apply best-in-class safety, compliance, and vehicle maintenance practices
- Use industry-leading route planning and logistics technology
- Provide outstanding customer service on every journey
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll also complete classroom and practical training delivered by specialist providers - all fully funded by Amazon.
By the end of the programme, you’ll have achieved your Class 1 (C+E) HGV Licence and Driver CPC, setting you up for success as a professional driver within our transport network.
Eligibility requirements
To be considered for this apprenticeship, you must:
- Be 18 years or older by May 2026
- Be a UK national, or a non-UK national with the right to work in the UK, or an EU national with settled status
- Have lived in the UK, EEA, or a British Overseas Territory for at least 3 years prior to April 2026
- Be resident in the UK for the duration of the programme
- Not be registered on another UK government-funded course ending March 2026 or later
- Hold 2 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C / 4 or above in Maths and English
- Hold an active Class B (car) driving licence
- Be eligible to obtain a Category C+E HGV licence
- Have (or be able to obtain) a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Must not already hold a Category C+E HGV licence
- If your qualifications were gained outside the UK, you must provide a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC.

- You shouldn't already have prior HGV experience or license - just enthusiasm, focus, and a desire to learn.
Career progression
After completing the programme, you’ll be a fully qualified Amazon HGV Driver with opportunities to progress in the long term into roles such as Lead Driver, Driver Trainer, or Transport Team Leader.
With experience, you can continue to grow into wider logistics, safety, or fleet management positions across Amazon’s vast operations network.
