Ever wondered how one of the world's most recognised brands shapes the conversations that matter?
Whether you're a school leaver with a passion for communication or looking for a career change into public relations, public affairs and corporate communications, this is your opportunity to learn the craft from the inside, at Amazon.
Amazon is looking for creative, curious individuals to join our Public Relations (PR) and Communications Assistant Apprenticeship. You'll be based in one of our corporate offices, embedded in a team that shapes how Amazon communicates with the media, policymakers, stakeholders and the public. This is a hands-on role. You'll contribute to real campaigns, create real content and build real relationships, all while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
This programme is designed for natural communicators with a genuine interest in current affairs, media and the world around them. You're the kind of person who reads the news and has an opinion, follows political and policy debates, and understands that how a story is told matters just as much as the story itself. Throughout your apprenticeship you'll learn to build, protect and maintain reputation for one of the world's most dynamic brands. You'll grow your writing voice and the confidence to contribute to campaigns that reach millions. We move fast, fail fast and fix faster, so you'll be encouraged to bring ideas and learn by doing.
A day in the life can involve:
- Scanning the news, political and regulatory landscape, and flagging relevant coverage, policy developments and industry stories to the team
- Drafting a media summary, updating a stakeholder briefing, or preparing talking points ahead of a meeting
- Supporting a live campaign: drafting press materials, creating social content, coordinating with journalists, or pulling together a briefing pack for a spokesperson
- Developing content for an integrated campaign across earned, owned and social channels
- Researching audiences and stakeholders, and analysing the impact of recent coverage using monitoring tools
- On study days, working through your apprenticeship modules and building your portfolio of evidence
You'll gain experience in:
- Building, protecting and maintaining reputation for brands, organisations and individuals
- Media relations: understanding the media landscape, building relationships with journalists and commentators, and drafting press materials
- Public affairs: the political and regulatory landscape and how it informs communications strategy
- Campaign planning and delivery, from research and strategy through to execution and evaluation across earned, owned, paid and social channels
- Narrative and messaging: translating complex topics into compelling, audience-appropriate content
- Stakeholder engagement: identifying, mapping and communicating with media, policymakers and internal colleagues
- Research and analysis: audience insights, media monitoring, and measuring and reporting campaign impact
- Professional ethics: applying codes of practice, legislation and regulation, with a focus on inclusion and sustainability

Or maybe you've spent a few years in another role and found yourself drawn towards communication: writing updates, coordinating events, managing stakeholders, following policy debates, or being the person everyone comes to when something needs to be said well. Great communicators aren't just born; they step up. If that sounds like you, this programme is your next step.
You'll do well in this programme if you have:
- A genuine interest in current affairs, politics, media and how stories are told
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an instinct for the right words at the right time
- Curiosity about the world around you: you follow the news and form your own opinions on it
- A creative mindset and an eye for detail
- Comfort building relationships and working collaboratively across teams
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content
- A proactive, organised approach to juggling varied tasks and deadlines
- Evidence of communicating or organising something, such as running a newsletter, managing a society's social media, writing, debating or coordinating an event
